The family of Nnamdi Kanu has expressed profound gratitude to Nigerians that contributed to the success of the peaceful protest against his continued detention and trial.
Spokesman of the family, Prince Emmanuel Kanu in a message of “sincere gratitude” posted on his Facebook handle said that Nigerians exhibited uncommon unity in the fight against injustice.
He said that the peaceful protest “has transcended ethnic boundaries, as numerous citizens from various parts of Abuja and beyond gathered to express their solidarity and demand the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu”.
According to him, “demonstration of unity and collective strength is essential for challenging injustice and bringing an end to the unjust trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu”.
“Those responsible for orchestrating this injustice will undoubtedly face consequences for their actions. Heaven remains on the side of justice,” he added.
The police had during the October 20 protest at Abuja arrested Prince Emmanuel, who is the younger brother, along with his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, and 11 others.
Social activist and Chief organiser of the protest, Omoleye Sowore was also picked by the police. They were arraigned at a Magistrate Court at Kuje Atea Council and remanded in Kuje prison.
However, the arrested people were later granted bail and released from prison on Octòber 25, 2025 after spending four days in prison custody.
