As Abia opposition continues to throw darts at Governor Alex Otti, the stakeholders of the ruling Labour Party(LP) have rallied round and passed vote of confidence on him, saying that his performance is satisfactory.
The stakeholders passed the confidence vote on Friday, December 6 at their meeting held at the LP secretariat in Umuahia, during which the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) was taken to the cleaners for setting up a shadow cabinet.
The stakeholders drawn from all the 17 Local Governments of Abia, who converged to appraise the activities of the LP-controlled government, agreed without any dissenting voice that Abia is in good hands.
Led by the Abia LP Chairman, Hon Emmanuel Nweze Oti, speakers after speaker at the meeting lauded Otti for his holistic transformation of Abia State.
According to the ruling party Chairman, the Governor has in the last 17 months left an indelible footprint in all the zones in the state with one form of infrastructure or the other.
He urged the party stakeholders to remain steadfast in the ideals of LP and keep encouraging Otti, the party’s only Governor, for what he has done and the continues to do in Abia.
Oti stated that Abia has never in its history experienced what it is currently experiencing in terms of good governance and holistic development under the Alex Otti administration.

Speaking with journalists afterthe meeting, the Abia LP Chairman vehemently condemned the opposition Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for setting up a “shadow government”, saying that it is unconstitutional.
He wondered why the immediate past Abia ruling party should be toying with shadow government now that it has found itself in the opposition, saying that for over two decades it held sway in government there was no talk of shadow government innthe opposition.
“They don’t know what they are doing,” he said, adding that PDP “has no morality” to criticise the Otti administration after bequeathing to it a huge debt burden and dilapidated infrastructure across the state.
On the insinuations that Governor Otti has largely overlooked his party in giving political appointments, the Abia LP Chairman dismissed it as untrue saying that party men and women are beneficiaries of appointments.
He said that Alex Otti is the governor of all Abians and not specifically for LP on which platform he was given the mandate to preside over the affairs of Abia State.
However, the LP Chairman stated that the major criterion that Otti considers in his choice of political appointees “is quality”, hence he puts square pegs in square holes and round pegs in round holes.
