More Abians have continued to express concern over the worsening security situation in the state and the political dimension government has brought into the mix by linking opposition politicians to the disconcerting security problem.
Lending his voice to the call on government to halt politicising of insecurity, a popular online publisher in Abia, Mr. Ifeanyi Okali, who is the Executive Director of ABN TV, urged Governor Alex Otti to tread with caution.
In an open letter he addressed to the Abia Governor, Okali said that instead of antagosing his political opponents, Otti should stoop low to conquer by rallying them to seek a solution to the collective problem confronting the state.
He specifically advised Otti to tap from the experiences of his predecessors since they had faced security challenges during their respective tenures and still surmounted the problems.
Okali encouraged Otti, saying that he could equally overcome security challenges like those who were Abia governors before him.
“To achieve this,” he said, “I recommend putting aside party and individual differences and meeting with former Governors of the state to adopt some of the effective measures they implemented during their tenure”.
Okali, who referred to himself as ‘Ordinary Speaker’, made it clear to the Abia Governor that “I’m writing to you as a concerned citizen of Abia State, urging you to prioritize the security of our great state”.
While acknowledging that Otti has “made significant strides in other areas, security remains the cornerstone of progress” making it dangerous
“No city thrives under insecurity, and it’s imperative we tackle this challenge head-on,” Okali said.
He cautioned the media aides of Governor Otti as well as government officials of the “new and old Abia” to refrain from politicizing security issues and making unguarded and incendiary statements.
According to Okali, indulgjnb in blame game “amidst incessant security threats is a misplaced priority”, adding that “the life of every Abian matters, regardless of party affiliation or background.
“Let’s work together to ensure Abia State becomes a beacon of peace and prosperity. Ibelieve that under your leadership, we can overcome these challenges and create a safer, more secure environment for all Abians,” he said.
