Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has rejoiced with his Enugu State counterpart, Governor Peter Mbah for the honour done to him by the University of East London (UEL) in the United Kingdom.
Mbah was on Wednesday September 9, 2026 conferred with a Doctor of Law Degree, honoris causa, by UEL, his alma mater.
The honour was bestowed on Mbah in recognition of his outstanding achievements in governance and public service, as well as in the private sector where he has posted remarkable accomplisnments.
According to a press release from government house, Umuahia, Otti congratulated Mbah, saying that the honour by UEL was a well-deserved recognition of Mbah’s leadership and commitment to the development of Enugu State.
“Your Excellency, this honour from the University of East London is a testament to the impact of your administration in Enugu State,” Otti stated.
The University specifically lauded Mbah’s investment in education and his philosophy that “education is fundamentally the cornerstone of human progress, the bedrock upon which the future stands” – a value that resonates strongly with the institution.
Governor Otti noted that the award reflects the confidence reposed in Governor Mbah and the progress being recorded in Enugu under his watch, adding that the South East zone would ultimately be transformed through good leadership.
“As leaders in the South East, we share a common vision to rebuild our region and make it a hub of commerce, industry and innovation in Nigeria. Your commitment to good governance is encouraging,” the Abia Governor said.
He prayed that the honour will spur Governor Mbah to greater service to Enugu State and to the nation at large.
Otti also wished the Enugu State Governor continued wisdom, strength and success as he pilots the affairs of the State.
