Prince Emmanuel Kanu, younger brother of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has paid glowing tribute to his wife, Mrs. Favour Kanu, on the occasion of her birthday anniversary coming up on Sunday, July 5, 2026.
He profusely celebrated his spouse in a heartfelt birthday message he penned for her, made available to journalists on Saturday. He described her as “a resilient, virtuous and enterprising woman whose unwavering support” has sustained their family in all these years of daunting challenges.
Prince Emmanuel extolled his wife for standing firmly by him and the entire Okwu-Kanu family despite the difficulties associated with their long-running pursuit of justice and freedom.
He described the veteran broadcaster as his “confidant, bastion of support, and greatest encourager,” whose courage and steadfastness have remained unshaken in the face of adversity.
According to him, beyond her accomplishments as a respected news caster, Favour has distinguished herself as a compassionate mother, dependable partner and woman of uncommon strength whose quiet resilience has helped keep the family united through difficult times.
“The journey we have travelled has not been an easy one. The burdens that have accompanied our family’s pursuit of justice and freedom have tested our resolve in countless ways.
“(But) through it all, you have never allowed fear to triumph over faith or despair to overshadow hope,” he said.
Emmanuel, who is spokesman of the Okwu-Kanu family further extolled his better half for her loyalty, patience and abiding faith, noting that her sacrifices, though not always visible to the public, have been instrumental in strengthening the family in their travails.
He stated that her commitment “amply demonstrates that true strength is reflected in steadfast love, quiet determination and the willingness to stand by one’s family regardless of prevailing circumstances”.
The IPOB leader’s younger brother also praised his wife for her professional accomplishments that have earned her recognition as a distinguished broadcaster, while positively impacting lives through her wisdom, kindness and integrity.
He prayed for God’s continued protection and blessings upon her, and wished his loving wife many more years in good health of mind and body, peace and fulfilment.
“As you celebrate another year, my prayer is that the Almighty will preserve your life, strengthen your health, enlarge your joy and reward every sacrifice you have made.
“May God surround you with peace, crown your years with favour and grant you the desires of your heart,” the happy husband said with palpable sense of love and care.
While reminiscing on their matrimonial journey over the years, Prince Emmanuel lauded his wife for her enduring love, loyalty and courage, further describing her as “a remarkable woman” whose life continues to inspire all who come in contact with her.
