Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Senator Emma Nwaka has rejected and disowned a music video produced to praise him and possibly extort money from him.
The short music video was produced by one Jamila Haruna, who described herself as a “musician from northern Nigeria and also an actress in Kannywood”.
The music sang in Hausa by Haruna with a group of ladies and sub-titled in English language was sent to Nwaka by the singer soliciting for financial “appreciation”.
But the former Abia North Senator said he was taken aback by the production of the music video on him and the attendant financial request. He said that he did not authorise the video and was not even consulted by the person behind the production.
“I don’t know where it is coming from,” Nwaka said in a statement disclaiming the music video, adding, “I don’t know who sent them or their motive. They didn’t consult with me before producing the video”.
Nwaka said that when the video was sent to him via WhatsApp he made it clear to the producers that “I don’t need this kind of publicity at this moment in time”.
He further disarmed the sycophants stating that “I am not running for any political office, and I have no plans to run in 2027”.
However, the so called producers appear to be using the music video to blackmail the legal practitioner cum politician after they “asked for money, which I’m not ready to give”.
“They’re now threatening to go viral with the video clip,” Nwaka lamented, saying, “I am wondering how they even got my phone number”.
The singer and actress had in one of the WhatsApp messages she sent to Nwaka claimed that the “complimentary video song which I composed” was based on his kindness, integrity, contentment”, among others.
She acknowledged that she produced the music video “without permission” but insisted that Nwaka “deserved (it) and I will like to have your appreciation on it”.
