Hon Mba Kalu Nwoke has demonstrated his responsiveness to the needs of his constituents by completing two water projects at Amaekpu and Asaga Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government.
He also distributed N6 million cash to 400 vulnerable persons in his Ohafia South State Constituency to help them cope with the prevailing harsh economic situation in the country.
The presentation of the cash palliatives was made after the inauguration of the two twin solar-powered boreholes the lawmaker attracted to the benefiting communities as part of his constituency projects.
Speaking at the event held on Thursday January 2, 2024, Hon Nwoke, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Environment and Urban Renewal, said that more good things would come to his constituency.
He stated that every project meant for his constituency would be tailored to their needs, citing the water projects for Amaekpu and Asaga that were needs-driven.
“These projects were conceived to meet the people’s pressing need for portable water. By the grace of God, we will in no distant time extend similar gesture to other communities based on their needs,” he said.
Nwoke had made his mark in provision of democracy dividends when he served as Councillor for Ohafor ward and Deputy Leader, Ohafia Legislative Council, before becoming a state lawmaker in 2023.
He expressed his gratitude to his Ohafia South constituents for their continued support, adding that he was desirous and ever ready to provide more democracy dividends for the people.
The Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party, Chief Ceekay Igara, who was on hand to present the lawmaker’s cash gifts to the vulnerable ones, lauded Nwoke for “choosing projects that meet the people’s pressing needs”.
He said that his party means well for the people hence “our business with the boreholes have not ended”.
According to him, “we will monitor (the water projechs) everyday to ensure they run as expected”, adding that such minitoring the boreholes “will be useless”.
In his remarks, the Ezie Ogo in-council of Asaga Ohafia, Oba Ukah, represented by Chief Okorie Uduma, confirmed that potable water had been one of the community’s urgent needs.
He said that having satisfied this need for potable water, the people owe Hon Nwoke much gratitude, continued support and encouragement.
The President-General of the community, Chief Okpa Ibe, represented by his predecessor, Bishop Chidi Obasi, described the boreholes as “big relief” for the people, adding the water project would be adequately protected.
