You Can’t Afford to Disappoint Abia Masses, Workers, Pensioners, Obi Tells Otti at Thanksgiving Service

Obi to Governor Otti: Don't Take God's Grace for Granted.

As Governor Alex Otti celebrated his triumph at the 2023 poll with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has advised him to ensure he lived up to expectations.

To this end, the LP presidential flag bearer in the 2023 general election said that Otti should focused and attend to the needs of Abia masses, workers and pensioners in line with his campaign promises.

He gave the wise counsel at a thanksgiving service held Sunday in Umuahia with the theme, “The Lord Has Done Great Things For Us”.  It was organised to offer thanks to the Almighty God for the successful 2023 general election and Otti’s Inauguration as the fifth executive governor of God’s own state.

Obi reminded Otti, who is the only governor on LP’s platform, that his victory was made possible only by the grace of God, hence he should not abuse the privilege to serve Abia.

He therefore urged the new Abia governor to work for the masses and always endeavour to carry along the Abia poor and the down trodden in his policies and programmes.

The LP leader specifically stated that  pensioners, civil servants and others should feel the positive impact of governance having suffered immensely under the outgone administration.

While regretting that Nigeria’s leadership is still in the hands of the wrong people, Obi called for sustained prayer by all for a better Nigeria.

In his address Governor Otti said that Abians should expect better days ahead, assuring that he  was already working with every determination to make the state better and give it a pride of place in Nigeria.

He assured that time has come for  Ndi Abia to rejoice as his administration will lift the poor Abia masses out of poverty through well tailored and targeted programmes.

Otti thanked God for the marvelous work He has done for him following his successful outing at the 2023 governorshippoll, assuring that he would not take God’s grace for granted.

He also thanked the governorship candidates of some opposition parties in the state for supporting him and called on others that are in the Tribunal with him to sheathe their swords as “the Labour Party clearly won the election”.

In his sermon the Lead Pastor of Streams Of Joy International, Pastor Jerry Eze harped on  the need for people to always return thanks to God, saying that some people get  familiar with God that they forget to give thanks as required.

He noted that the change of government in Abia State “is only a healing” but with the thanksgiving, God would make the state wholesome.

Pastor Eze prayed that God would bring wholeness to every sector of Abia economy and declared that Abia’s case would be different as the Lord would make the state blossom.

The special thanksgiving service which featured special prayers for Governor Otti, his Deputy, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu and Abia State as a whole attracted prominent personalities, including the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Prescila Otti, wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adaeze Emetu.

Others at the service were the Secretary to the Abia State Government(SSG), Prof. Kenneth Kalu, the Head of Service, Sir Onyii Wamah, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants to the Governor, as well as  the State Chairman of the Labour Party, Chief Ceekay Igara.
