The lawmaker representing Ohafia South State Constituency, Hon Kalu Mba Nwoke has set in motion the process of lighting up his constituency with solar street lights.
This initiative is in tandem with the ongoing Light up Abia programme of Abia Governor, Mr. Alex Otti, through which thousands of solar street lights have already been installed in streets across Umuahia, Aba, and several communities.
He signalled the commencement of the light up Ohafia South initiative on Thursday January 29, 2026 when he inspected the solar street lights he attracted from the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC).
Hon Nwoke, popularly known as Etiokwe, attracted 235 solar street lights that would be installed at Asaga, his parents’ community in Ohafor ward.
During the inspection visit, he stressed the need for Ohafia South to be among the constituencies that would benefit from divideds of democracy irrespective of how it came about.
He explained that the installation of the solar street lights on completion would improve security, promote economic growth and enhance living conditions in his constituency.
Nwoke, who was addressing a crowd of constituents at the inspection site, urged them to exercise patient as the solar lights would be spread to the entire Ohafia South State Constituency in due course.
He explained that the light project at Asaga is the first phase of the solar street light up of Ohafia South and in a matter of few months ahead, another community would become a beneficiary of the project.
The lawmaker assured his constituents that all the communities in Ohafia South would eventually be illuminated with solar street lights.
He thanked his constituents for their sustained support for Governor Otti’s administration, and also for finding him trustworthy of representing them in the Abia House of Assembly.
Etiokwe reassured his people that he won’t disappoint them in the performance of his legislative functions and other interventions, adding that he would never take for granted the unalloyed support Ohafia South has given him.
He also stated that he would sustain his continuous engagement, lobbying and making laws that would impact positively to his constituencts, saying that no community or ward would be left behind in the echeme of things.
