Huge rallies were held simultaneously across three states in the South East zone on Tuesday January 20, 2026 in solidarity with the U.S President, Mr. Donald Trump.
The Trump Rally and peaceful march took place in three of the five states of the South-East zone, namely Abia, Anambra and Ebonyi States.
It was organised by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to mark the ninth anniversary of the killing of Igbo youths that participated in a solidarity rally for Donald Trump during his maiden inauguration as U.S President.

Youths, women, and elders poured out in large numbers to peacefully demonstrate in solidarity and in remembrance of those that lost their lives in the first Trump Solidarity Rally in Nigeria’s South-East zone.
IPOB reminded the international community that “our people were brutally killed exactly nine years ago during the first inauguration of President Donald Trump, when Nigerian soldiers, acting under the directives of the then ruling APC-led government, opened fire on unarmed Biafran demonstrators”.
During the commemorative peaceful rally, participants carried placards, banners and photographs of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the incarcerated leader of IPOB.
They and renewed their demand for his immediate and unconditional release, insisting that his continued detention remains a major catalyst for tension and instability in the South East.
The demonstrating crowd also called for an independent inquiry into the Port Harcourt killings and the wider, worsening insecurity ravaging the South-East, stressing that truth, accountability and justice are indispensable to peace.
IPOB in a statement issued by its Media and Publicity Directorate, underscored the significance of the peaceful rally held in the three locations across the South-East.
“Despite the ongoing and relentless pogrom in Biafraland, and the atmosphere of intimidation, persecution and insecurity deliberately imposed on the South-East, Biafrans continue to defy fear and oppression to affirm one truth: a people determined to be free cannot be permanently subdued.
“The resolve of Biafrans to live as free people in the land of their ancestors remains unbroken,” IPOB said.
The Biafra self determination group reiterated that “all our activities remain peaceful and lawful”, urging Nigeria’s security agencies to respect the fundamental rights of citizens to peaceful assembly.
It also called on the international community “to take urgent interest in the deteriorating human rights situation in the South-East of Nigeria”.
