Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has been commended by youth leaders for his “unwavering commitment to tackling hunger and food insecurity in Abia North and beyond” in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The youth leaders under the aegis of the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), said the transformative agricultural initiatives of the Abia North Senator was being felt in the zone.
In a statement signed by its President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Okey Nwaoru, COSEYL noted with delight Kalu’s recent initiative to procure and distribute a substantial number of tractors to farmers in hus constituency.
In addition, the former Abia Governor also procured and distributed other farm inputs, including fertilizer and high-yielding seedlings
as well as cash incentives to boost food production.

COSEYL noted that Senator Kalu’s interest in promotion of agriculture is a demonstration of “a visionary approach to agricultural development that will undoubtedly have far-reaching implications for our farmers and the broader economy”.
“The provision of cash gifts and various incentives to local farmers is a step that empowers our agricultural base and fosters a culture of productivity.
“We recognize that the senator’s efforts are not just about increasing agricultural output; they are a strategic initiatives aimed at creating mass employment opportunities for our teeming youths,” the group said.
The youth leaders atated that enabling farmers with the needed tools and resources necessary for success has a multiplier effect as “we foresee a significant boost in job creation within the agricultural sector”.
“This will not only provide livelihoods for our young people but also instill a sense of pride and purpose as they contribute to the nation’s food security,” COSEYL said.
The youth leaders further will provide essential raw materials for our industries, significantly reducing the heavy reliance on food and raw material imports which has contributed to an unfavorable balance of payments for our nation.
“This move towards self-sufficiency is crucial for building a resilient economy and ensuring sustainable development for future generations.

According to COSEYL, “Senator Kalu’s proactive approach aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for a prosperous and self-reliant Nation”
It stated that the leadership of the Senator representing Abia North in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly “serves as an inspiring example of commitment to the people’s welfare and development”.
While commending Kalu “for his dedication and impactful actions”, COSEYL called on youths “to engage actively” in the agricultural initiatives and take advantage the opportunities being created.
It expressed optimism that with youths embracing farming, “we can, together, work towards a thriving agricultural sector, ensuring food security, employment, and a robust economy for our people”.
“We look forward to seeing our communities flourish through sustained collaboration and innovative projects in the agricultural landscape,” the group said.
