Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Decries Activities of Ekpa, Dokubo in S’East

Wants FG to Activate Diplomatic Channels for Ekpa's Extradition

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has decried the activities of Finland based Biafra renegade, Simon Ekpa and ex-Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo, saying they were perpetrating insecurity in the Southeast zone.

Secretary General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ambassador Okey Emuchay told journalists yesterday at Azumini, Ukwa East Local Government of Abia State that the duo of Ekpa and Dokubo “are waging war against the Igbo nation”.

Ekpa, the self-styled prime minister of Biafra government in exile, has been perpetuating the controversial Monday sit-at-home order grinding economic activities in the five states of the Southeast.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo scribe said the pervasive sit-at-home has plunged the Igbo nation into “a very sad situation”, which is unnecessary for a people that had passed through a harrowing exerience of war.

He saud: “It is painful to observe that we have groups both within the Southeast and beyond, in fact outside the shores of Nigeria that are waging war against the Igbo nation.

“Time has come to say enough is enough (because) the three years of pains of civil war and the pains of recovery are being shredded”.

Emuchay stated that Ekpa was engaging in mercantile activities that are not in the interest of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) nor connected to the ongoing efforts for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“Simon Ekpa is doing his own business. It gas nothing to do with Nnamdi Kanu’s release,” he said, adding that Ekpa and his cohorts were “people with no integrity” using Biafra agitation for business.

According to the Ohanaeze Secretary General, the likes of Ekpa “have converted issues that concern the Igbo nation into cottage industry”, adding,”it is a money making venture forthem”.

Amb Emuchay: Criminal elements have hijacked Biafra agitation for business venture.

On Asari Dokubo, the Ohanaeze expressed alarm at a trending video showing an armed gang being trained by the ex-militant for unknown purposes.

Emuchay said that Ohanaeze was worried at the activities of an armed group very close to Igbo land which is presently contending with insecurity.

“The armed men he(Dokubo) is training we don’t know for what purpose but he is very close to the Igbo nation (hence) there is cause for concern,” he said.

Ohanaeze, therefore, called on the federal government “to investigate the activities of Asari Dokubo” and unravel the purpose for which he is training an armed group.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation also urged the federal authorities to send emissaries to Finland and liaise with the European nation to checkmate the activties of Ekpa.

“The federal government has diplomatic relations with Finland and it has to engage with that country to checkmate Simon Ekpa. He is staying in Finland and is waging war against his people,” the Ohanaeze scribe said.

He said that “nobody gave Ekpa any assignment” concerning Biafra and should with “other criminals” stop parroting IPOB and using the name to cause havoc in the Southeast zone.
